"Your Devil, Our Saint" invokes the god of the crossroads who also lives in the wild and unruly spaces of the natural world. Often demonized as a result of Christian colonization, the god of the crossroads inhabits a nuanced moral space. He is both destiny and a people's ability to determine their own future. He represents the indomitable aspects of life: the wilderness, choice and happenstance; aspects which evoke fear in those seeking to control people, spirits and land.
